about

In the summer of 2011, some 5 years after the recording of their eponymous first album, The Scarlet Phonebooth stirred once more into life.

Fuelled by coffee blacker than the depths of ocean or space, and indeed wine redder than the blood of a nation and the tears of the Virgin Mary, a transcendental mind-meld did take place, fruiting tunes of various consistencies and unprecedented class and chic.

A combination of spontaneous jazz reflections, nostalgic soulful songwriting and "the Booth"s inimitable brand of listener alienation, Stories Telling Stories to Ourselves was recorded in a series of intensive, slightly less intensive, and downright drunk sessions in early september 2011, using all and sundry that did avail itself of service, and leaving the remainder to perish. Amen.

about

The Scarlet Phonebooth is an experimental 'band' formed by Fergus Ellington and Ricky Howrie in the Lake District and ... more Lunesdale some time in the latter part of the last decade. The aim of The Scarlet Phonebooth has been to exemplify intuitive composition, free-time structures and unexpected moments of bliss and horror. Boy Howdy. less
